Refurbishment of 300 residential units in three high rise Blocks, Kennington, London.
The scheme aims to provide decent homes for social tenants inside refurbished exemplar energy efficient buildings on the Ethelred Estate. The project is to be a benchmark for sustainable social housing with a target for reduction in carbon emissions of almost 60%.Renewable energy will be generated on site via one of the largest Photo Voltaic panel arrays in the country,extending to over 900sqm. In addition, a gas fired CHP unit delivering district heating and hot water will provide further electrical generation to the site.
The project is a finalist in the Sustainability Awards “Sustainable Refurbishment of the Year 2010”.
